Pregnancy Update (3 weeks left)

Beej & Chris

With this being my fourth baby and having three kiddo's keeping me busy, I have been a slacker at posting pictures and updating on my pregnancy. At around 20 weeks I started either having Kaylee or I take weekly photo's of my belly progress.  Now that I am getting close to the end of the pregnancy I wanted to write as much as I can remember or that I had written down on my emotions and how I was feeling during the pregnancy.

 37 weeks
I can't believe I just hit 37 weeks! 3 weeks left. I haven't had my 37 week appointment yet, and with Halloween being on the day I usually have my appointments (tuesdays) I won't have it until 37 1/2 weeks. But when I have that appointment I will post the updated progress on dilation etc.
This past week I have had a lot of reflux and heartburn that has been not fun. I have to be really careful what I eat before I go to bed, and I sleep with at least two big pillows to elevate my head to try to help. I have felt what I am starting to call "poop contractions" a few times. I start having painful contractions, but then I feel like I need to go to the bathroom and once I go then they stop. I know embarrassing to share. But this is the first pregnancy this has happened. I am super curious to see at my next appointment if there has been any progress. I'm hoping these contractions are doing something other than make me uncomfortable, but we shall see. I am emotionally getting more ready, but still nervous for delivery. I am also just really trying to enjoy the rest of this pregnancy as much as I can. I sent this text to BJ the other day "This morning I felt the baby kick me in my ribs on my right side while pushing with her little fingers in my ribs on my left side. As much as pregnancy can be uncomfortable, I am just so so grateful to be pregnant and am in no rush to finish being pregnant. It is such a magical thing to carry a baby inside of you. I love filling her kick around".

With all the pregnancy losses we have experienced; they have just created a bigger appreciation for this pregnancy and that things are going well. We are just so grateful and excited to have a new member of our family join us here on earth.

 36 weeks
At the 36 week appointment the doctor didn't check my cervix, she said she usually does it at 37 weeks. But she did do an ultrasound to check the fluid levels and to make sure the baby's head is down (which it is!). She also did a swab to check if I was positive for group B strep. I was so so nervous to be positive since you have to have the ABX 4 hours before delivery, and with Ashlynn I had the baby within an hour of getting to the hospital. We had talked about possibly inducing me at 39 weeks if I was positive to prevent that from happening. BUT...I got the results back and I am NEGATIVE. Woot woot! I was so excited. It eased a lot of my anxieties.
People keep asking me if I am ready to have this baby, and my answer is always "no". ha ha I am freaking out a little and can't believe I have a baby in my belly sometimes. My neighbor across the street Paige just had her baby. It was so weird seeing her newborn baby and imagining that I have that sweet sized baby growing in my belly right now! I still have a lot to get ready as far as purchases go for the baby. The crib is set up in Connor's room and we ordered a rocking chair that we got a few weeks ago. But I want to replace a few things that have become pretty old from the previous kids (towels, swaddle blankets, onseies etc). I sold one of our old cribs that I had lent to my sister, so I will use the money from that ($100) to buy the rest of the baby items we want/need. I have however bought a few cute outfits to take to the hospital and washed them already. But I still need to get my bag ready. BJ and I have read a lot about breathing techniques and practiced here and there to prepare. I woke up with contractions and period like pain for several hours one night this week. I even got in the bath to try to ease some of the pain, but it didn't help. I finally fell back asleep, but it took awhile. It got me a little freaked out because we aren't ready yet to have the baby here, but it also gave me some time to practice my breathing techniques.

This pregnancy I feel the baby kick a lot more than I can ever remember. The muscles in my stomach have started to separate and whenever the baby kicks right there it is pretty painful. I also feel her kick my bladder A LOT and that is something I don't really remember from previous pregnancies either. She has the hiccups quite frequently which is fun. I don't know if I am feeling so much more this time; or if I am paying so much more attention to the kicks that I notice more. But it has been a lot of fun watching her move around.

35 weeks
Ahhh the back pain this week has been terrible. I don't know if the baby is just positioned just right as to make my back pain hurt so bad, but it has been really hard. I finally went and bought a throw away heat pack I could wrap around my back and belly so I could take Kaylee to Witches Night at Gardner Village. The heat helped a ton! The back pain is getting me a little nervous for back labor. I hope the baby changes positions to prevent so much back pain before delivery!

35 weeks as well :D

Overall I am feeling pretty good. I will say the older I get and the more pregnancies I have, the more uncomfortable and difficult they get. I'm anemic this time around and definitely feeling it. Don't worry we had steak tonight, and I had a spinach smoothie my neighbor made me a few days ago. The round ligament pain is legit and Braxton hicks contractions are more frequent as of late. Oh, and Tums is my new best friend! But, I really can't complain because I am so grateful to be pregnant after everything we went through to get here!

As far as cravings go, I've at a lot of the ranch flavored wheat thins throughout the whole pregnancy. Just recently I have been craving sweets (Swedish fish, peach cobbler etc.). Since this is our fourth baby, we of course haven't got anything ready. No crib, no baby clothes and yep...no name yet. At this point I think we will probably decide officially on the name at birth. It will be a surprise to everyone including us.

I'm to the point I have to really think if eating pizza is worth the acid reflux/heartburn after. But I am also feeling the baby move like crazy, which is the BEST part about pregnancy.
