Kaylee-18 months old

Beej & Chris

My little girl is now a year in a half! It is crazy how much she has changed in 6 months. Kaylee is talking all the time. Here is the list of some of the words she can say..
- please
- Sirr (cereal)
- baby
- nah night
- NO ;)
- I wuv u
- bamba (grandpa)
- buddy
- bear
- Nonner
- Sly (slide)
- ma (grandma)
- hi
- dad
- Sweee (swing)
- Snaaa (snack)
- nay (Nate)
- ba bye
- mom
- Ya
- numee numee num (yummy)
- mmm (milk)
- Show
- lol and she slurps to let me know that she wants soup

There are more but those are just what I can remember. Kaylee also says prayers every night. She does her best to repeat whatever we say. My favorite is when she says "bless bamba" for my grandpa Parker who was just diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. We bless him every night and every time she says 'bamba' it makes me smile. :)

Kaylee can also say and point to her (elbow, chin, cheek, nose, eye, mouth, tongue, forehead, legs, arms, knee, and fingers and toes). Ok so she can't say elbow, legs or forehead...

It is so funny how much of an emotional roller coaster Kaylee puts me on everyday. One minute I am praising her telling her what a good girl she is and how much I love her....then the next minute I am telling her 'NO' over and over again as she gives me this defiant look and I think who is this child?

Speaking of defiant looks. Kaylee is definitely getting into those "terrible two's" that everyone talks about. She likes to do things her way and when she wants to do it. She has also started throwing fits and crying for no reason.

However Kaylee is still doing some pretty cute and fun things as well. She loves to sing songs with me and do the actions. I tried taking a video twice of her doing it and this is what I got.....

I will try again because it seriously is so cute and fun to listen to her sing. She loves to sing
- "The wheels on the bus" and will sing 'through the town' with me
- "If Your Happy and You Know it"
- "The insie winsey spider"
- "Popcorn Popping"
- "5 little monkeys"

Kaylee is still our Olympic sleeper. She goes to bed between 8 and 9pm and sleeps in till 8 or 9 am. She usually takes a 3 hour nap at anywhere between 12-1pm. Every once in awhile she will only sleep for 2 hours, but she ends up being onrey for the rest of the day. She still loves to sleep with her pink bear and has just recently started carrying around her pink blanket with her. Kaylee still likes her milk warmed up for her nap and to go to bed..but every once in awhile we can get her to take it cold.

As far as eating goes. She is doing much better. She even ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich yesterday instead of just picking off all the jelly off the bread.

Kaylee is still our 'social butterfly' and walked right into nursery without even saying goodbye to mom. She has just recently started to hide by my legs when I talk to someone she doesn't know but she still waves 'HI' to everyone she sees in the grocery store. lol
Here is a picture of Kaylee at her 18 month old wellness visit. I was really nervous for her shots since she is older now. Once we got inside the room she held on to me soo tight. I tried laying her down to get her undressed so we could weigh her and she just held on as tight as she could. But once the doctor came in and she had already had time to play and get more comfortable she did amazing. She even opened her mouth and said "awww" for her to look in her mouth. The doctor said she was doing better than most kids her age does at this check up. I'm a proud mamma :)

Here are her stats:

Weight: 24 lbs 5 ounces.............50%
Length: 34 inches............95 %
Head: 18 1/2..........50%

I Love you Kaylee girl- you are still our little princess and we can't wait to see you learn and grow some more.

Lagoon 2011

Beej & Chris

A fun tradition that BJ's parents have started to do is get all the kids and grand kids together for a lagoon day. Last year we took Kaylee and my little brother Nate and just took turns riding rides. This year we brought Nathan along with us as well and did the same thing- but this time Kaylee got to ride a few rides herself!

This is a picture of the first ride we went on- the Jumping Dragon. She wasn't quite sure what to expect. Once the ride started she just held my hand and then as it went faster she started to yell but quietly and never started crying. She did hold on to me pretty tight afterwards though.

We decided that ride was a little fast so we attempted to take her on the really little kid ride- Bulgy. She kept pointing at it and was really excited to get in it and ride.

Buckling her in...

She started out doing good

But then she lost eye contact. She kept trying to look for us but couldn't find us so she got scared.

And cried and cried until it was over :(

So we cuddled afterwards :)
It didn't help that it was past nap time at this point though either. BJ then went on a few rides with my little brother Nate while I walked around with Kaylee and Connor.

Shortly after BJ took Kaylee AND Connor (being the amazing husband he is) home for naps while Nate and I went on a few rides together. We then attempted one more ride with Kaylee.....
Puff the Magic Dragon

BJ took a video of Kaylee and I on "puff". I laugh everytime I watch it because she has her legs spread out and is holding on as tight as she can to the sides.

After lunch and naps we took the kids swimming. I sent BJ with Nathans friend to go down some of the slides while Kaylee, Connor, and Nate and I relaxed.

I snapped a picture right as Connor sneezed.

It was nice to just have some time to talk to Connor while Kaylee was busy playing.

Kaylee finds rocks to play with wherever she goes....even Lagoon!

What a fun dad!

This is the age where it is 'not cool' to take a picture with your older sister.

Wedgie ;)

In line for the train ride

Apprently nobody else knew that we were playing 'serious face'- I guess I won :)

It was a great day. Hopefully next year Kaylee will enjoy the rides a little bit more lol

memories

Beej & Chris

As Kaylee and Connor get older there are going to be times I look back and want to remember the cute little things they say and do, so here are a few that I want to remember.

Being a mom is not always easy. BJ and I took the kids to Cherry Hill with us this last Saturday (we had won two free tickets when BJ played musical chairs at Cherry Hill a few months ago). I was SOO excited. I love to swim and so does Kaylee....usually. Well apparently this last Saturday was not one of those days. I sent BJ off to go down a slide or two while I gave Kaylee a snack and fed Connor. Kaylee did pretty good so I started to feed Connor. Next thing I know Kaylee has dumped the "Little Cesar's crazy sauce", threw her goldfish on the steps to the lifeguards break room and was walking up to the room herself. I called out to her and told her to come back. She looks at me and smiles and walks up the stairs. I quickly threw the blanket over myself and continued to breastfeed Connor as I walked up the stairs. I carried Kaylee down the stairs with one hand while the other hand was hold Connor as he was breastfeeding hoping I wasn't showing anything off to the world. Needless to say she continued to throw fits and before we even really got to swim we packed up and went home. I was pretty bummed because I am finally not pregnant and can go down the slides and go swimming without feeling huge as soon as I walk out of the pool. But such is life ;)

Or this morning when I walked outside with Kaylee while Connor was upstairs asleep. I was doing my makeup on the front porch while she was playing with chalk. She saw what I was doing and quickly came to join me, looking at herself in the mirror and trying to put makeup on herself. I brushed the blush brush (that's fun to say) and handed it to her so she could put on make up as well- without actually putting makeup on. She thought it was so neat that I blew on the brush so she kept blowing on it and brushing her cheeks.

Or even earlier this morning when Kaylee and Connor just smiled at each other. Kaylee came down and ran to Connor saying "Noonner" and gave him multiple kisses. "Hi, buuuudee" (hi buddy). Kaylee would say hi to him and then grab his hand to have him wave back to her. She sat next to him and talked and talked and talked and gave him hugs and kisses all the while Connor is smiling ear to ear with an occasional worried look to me making sure it was ok. He was then in the swing a little bit later and Kaylee was sitting on her toy car that grandma/grandpa Scott gave her and was laughing so hard and looking at Connor. Connor would just smile sooo big every time Kaylee would laugh. They are going to have so much fun together as they get older!

Kaylee has always been a good helper. She is still learning though that Connor can't play with all the big toys or eat the food that Kaylee eats. I have caught her a few times trying to share her food with him. I would always tell her, "Connor only drinks milk". Kaylee smiled and then took her sippy cup full of milk and tried to help him drink it. What a smart little girl. I had to clarify that he only drinks "mommy's milk".

Kaylee is definitely starting to form her own little opinion. I tried to feed her some leftover enchiladas and she didn't want anything to do with them. That was ok with me because they were delicious so I just decided to eat it myself. She was not having any of that. As soon as she saw me enjoying the enchiladas she came over to me with her mouth wide open and said "Awww". She ended up finishing it for me :) That is our new trick now. Anything I want her to eat I start to eat myself. Good thing she isn't eating anymore of that toddler food from the can- uck I don't think I could swallow that stuff.

And to end on a cute note. The other day Kaylee was sitting on my lap and threw her head back and hit me on the neck really hard. I said, "owe- Kaylee that hurt!" She looked back at me with concern on her face and said, "I sawee" (I'm sorry) and then gave me a big hug and kiss.

Splash Pad

Beej & Chris

Kaylee finally got to play with her best friend Brinlee. We went to the new splash pad by our house. It was sooo hot. Challae was amazing and endured the heat being 8 1/2 months pregnant. Kaylee really enjoyed the water but was easily distracted by the park just around the corner. She kept running over to the park saying "Sliii" (slide). It wouldn't have been a big deal but the park was just a little too big for her so she would just get frustrated that she couldn't do all that all the other kids were doing.

Connor stayed nice and cool in his car seat

Aren't these two just so cute!

We love you brin! Come play again :)
