Cousin Talk

Beej & Chris

We just went to play with cousins and Kaylee asked if Desiree could come over and play for a bit. So we put her in our car and headed home. On the way home Desiree and Kaylee had a few really interesting conversations with this one being one of them:

Desiree was talking about a time she went with her brother and her baby sister and Connor interrupted and said something like "I have a sister". Desiree quickly said, "you don't have a baby at your house like me". That is when I knew Kaylee would spill the beans....
Kaylee: "Des, I didn't believe it at first. This is really cool. But, my mommy has a baby in her belly"
Desiree: "really? Oh yeah my mommy had a baby in her belly"
Kaylee: "no. My mom has a baby in her belly"
Desiree: "Yeah, long time ago my mom had a baby in her belly and she got it out"
Kaylee:"My baby isn't ready. She is going to grow in my moms belly and I get to feel when it kicks. Yeah it will be cool".
Desiree: "Oh, how will they get the baby out?"
Kaylee:"The doctor has to check her"
Desiree: "They use his hands? The doctors hands to get the baby out?"
Kaylee: "No, I don't think they use hands but I don't know what they use".
Desiree: "Oh cool".

Ha  ha ha- I was holding back all the laughter as I drove the girls to the house. I love hearing their conversations. They totally crack me up.

After their conversation Kaylee started talking to me about it. I told her that when the baby is bigger that she will be able to feel the baby kick. A few days later, Kaylee came and put her hand on my belly and asked if she could feel the baby. I told her it would be a little bit. I just love how excited she is. It is fun having her be so much older this time around.

Many people know that waiting for this pregnancy was very difficult. We had gone to the fertility doctor and were about to start medication when I had found out I was pregnant (which I miscarried). This was my second miscarriage and very difficult. I was then told by a nurse that I could start the fertility medication...and then was told by another nurse that I had to wait a few months after the miscarriage to start. I was very discouraged and ready to start this medication that first period after this last miscarriage. I felt strongly about it, but didn't want to have another miscarriage. I tried to e-mail and contact my fertility doctor who didn't call me back until a week later. Anyway, taking the medication has to be on a specific day in your cycle so I had to know what to do. I asked my friend Ashley who asked her mom (who is a midwife) if it was okay for me to start the medication since I couldn't get a hold of my doctor and was getting conflicting info from the nurses. She said it was okay and I felt okay with it- so we went ahead and started. I am SO glad I started that medication...otherwise we would not be announcing this pregnancy. Heavenly Father is definitely watching out for us. Feeling very grateful

Telling the Kids....

Beej & Chris

Since we had a good heartbeat with the fertility doctor's ultrasound, and I had been really sick we decided to bring the kids with us to my regular OBGYN first ultrasound on June 9th. BJ recorded it- but the doctor turned out the light and you can't see a single thing in the video ha ha.

The doctor started the ultrasound and BJ asked Kaylee- Do you know what that is? Kaylee immediately knew "a baby". Connor was pretty oblivious to it all, but Kaylee was pretty excited....as were BJ and I.
We told them right before heading to Cherry hill. As we pulled up the Cherry Hill, Kaylee said "I am so excited. I am going to tell Brinlee that my mom is having a baby too. Just like her mommy". I told Kaylee "Let's keep it a secret" knowing it may not happen. I was right :D The moment we got to Cherry hill- Kaylee went right up to Brinlee and said "Guess what! My mom has a baby in her belly!" I loved how excited she was.

Connor's 3 year old Wellness Check

Beej & Chris

Connor getting his blood pressure taking for his 3 year old wellness check.

We brought a few of JQ's kids (they stayed the night the night before). They all kept asking if Connor was getting shots. But no shots for Connor this time.

Connor was so good with his wellness check. He let the doctor check him out and passed all his little checks with flying colors. I can't believe he is 3 years old. He is our cute little boy, and it is crazy to me that he is now 3 years old.

Connor is slowing down on his naps. He can still take one everyday, but if he does he goes to bed a lot later than normal. If we let him sleep for 15-20 minutes he does really well and will go right to bed just after 8pm. Connor is becoming more opinionated in what he wears and will protest with different shirts- especially on Sunday.

He still loves to play with the play kitchen and using tools. He LOVES being read books, especially Fred and Ted. His favorite movies are Ninja Turtles and Aladdin, but really he likes to watch any movies (without scary guys in it). Just recently he has been more afraid of movies with bad guys in it. His FAVORITE color is by far ORANGE. He talks about it all the time.

Connor is learning his colors and recognizing his letters in preparation for preschool this fall, which he is so excited about. Connor has done so well since he was potty trained- he can go a long time without going and doesn't have an accident. He is just learning how to put his clothes on now. He usually bring out his clothes after he has gone potty and asks for help putting them on, but we have been encouraging him to do it and he is picking it up pretty quickly.

Connor still loves to cuddle, and will take a good nap with you. He loves music and listens to it every night to help him calm down and sleep. Connor is very concerned with other people's feelings, and doesn't like to see anyone sad. He is also really really good with babies. He is going to be a GREAT big brother!

I can't find his stats right off so I will have to add them later, but he was in the 10% for his height and 60% for his weight ha ha. One of these times he is going to shoot up in his height. But for now he is our cute little shorty.

More on Connor's Birthday

Beej & Chris

Since Connor's party wasn't on his actual birthday, we did a few more celebrations on his actual birthday. This year the first year we didn't have their party on their actual birthday- it was so weird. I like to make their special day extra special all day long, but after having a huge long birthday party the day before it felt weird to celebrate more...but even more weird not doing anything...I know I am weird.

We gave him our gift

His own Leap pad!

Taking silly pictures with the birthday boy after church

We then went to Grandma Scott's house for some impromptu cake and ice cream

I got some extra time with Connor while the other cousins played. I made up a treasure hunt for him for both downstairs and upstairs. He then hid the clues for the cousins to do the same treasure hunt. We had a good time.

Connor's 3 year old Ninja Turtle Birthday Party

Beej & Chris

Getting all ready for Connor's birthday party! This year we celebrated on the Saturday before his actual birthday. We rented a bouncy slide, and while BJ and Kaylee went to go pick it up Connor helped me decorate his cupcakes for his party. He immediately sat down and started eating a cupcake while I continued to decorate ha ha

Playing with balloons. He was so cute when he came down and saw all the balloons. So fun

Before everyone came to his party, Connor grabbed himself some food. I loved it, because I knew he would get so distracted later and wouldn't want to eat when he could play.
The kids decorated their own Ninja Turtle masks

Uncle JC jumping on the tramp with his son Light
Connor wearing his #1 Big Brother shirt. Yes, this is an announcement. We are so excited. Connor will become a big brother January 2015

The slide was a HUGE hit. The kids had so much fun. Even after everyone left our kids were out playing in it. I finally told them it was time to come in for some quiet time- they could have played on it all day long.
We also set up a pool for the younger babies or kids that didn't want to go on the slide. But the water was soo cold in the pool that none of the babies wanted to sit in the water.
The McGavins
Aunt JQ, Anya, and Grandma Tenney
Pumpkin and Grandma Scott came as well. I had made Connor keep his shirt on so people would know that we were expecting. I told him to go show Grandpa his shirt. He walked up to my dad and said "will you take this shirt off?". Kaylee told him "Mom said you can't take your shirt off". I then told my mom "Look at Connor's shirt". She read it and said "Wait, what?!" My dad later came up to me a few minutes later and said "I heard the news. Congratulations." ha ha He was a little distracted when we were trying to tell him earlier.

Singing Happy Birthday

After we all sang to Connor and he blew out his candles, he leaned up to BJ and gave him a hug. It was so sweet.

Connor opening all of his presents

He then went around and gave hugs to say thank you. I love how sweet this boy is.

Papa Bruce and Spencer came late and had to run off- but Connor was excited to see them for a few minutes

I realized after we had already eaten the food that I didn't take any pictures of the food and decorations. We had watermelon, grapes, pizza, and Cheetos.

After most of the people went home, Angela and I went down the slide a few times
Connor was at the bottom waiting to "catch" me.

Thanks everyone for coming! We were sad for those that couldn't make it, but Connor had a lot of fun and overall the party was a big success.
