Hair Cuts

Beej & Chris

Connor's hair was getting sooo long and after the many attempts of mom trying to trim his hair- we finally decided we needed professional help. Heard about this place in Bountiful called Cookie Cutters and decided to give it a try.
They have this cute big slide for the kids to play on until it is their time to get their hair cut.
They then get to choose which car or helicopter to sit in while they get their hair cut.
 Before shot of his hair.....

Connor of course had to try out ALL of the Cars before choosing one to sit on.
Connor got nervous and put his left hand out....
and kept it there almost the whole time his hair was cut ha ha

 He was so brave!

How cute is this little man!

With every hair cut the kids get a sucker and a balloon. Connor was ecstatic.

Since we had a good experience with Connor, a few days later we took Kaylee to get her hair cut.

Kaylee's hair before....

 During....

After! Mommy LOVES it! It is so much easier to do now.

After getting our hair cut. We took a trip to City Creek Center to get Subway and play on the dinosaur play area (one of our favorite free activities)

LOVE how Kaylee always puts her hands on her hips to pose for pictures :)

Family Camp Out

Beej & Chris

Daddy's been training the kids to sleep in the tent for awhile now. He goes camping every month for scouts but still wanted to take the family on a camp-out just for fun. Kaylee is a GREAT camper and sleeps awesome. Connor....needs a little more practice but he is getting there ;)
Starting our fire so we can make dinner
Connor in the "I DO IT" attitude phase
Must be a Scout. Look at the layout of those logs. Perfect campfire
 Silly faces

Eating our yummy hot dogs for dinner

Connor would burn his hot dog, or not cook it hardly at all.....take it of the skewer and chow down

Daddy was even patient enough to sit with him while he "cooked" his hot dog. This little boy has no fear
 Taking a mid morning hike

Daddy came prepared with toys and fun activities to do outside. A Nerf rocket was one of the favorites.

 CHEESER!!

LOVE this picture! Kaylee sure loves her daddy

Notice the picture at the top of the blog post and this picture. Different clothes but same position. These kids know how to relax when driving in the car. ha ha

Feeling Broken

Beej & Chris

I have always had medical issues my whole life. I think that is what got me interested in the medical field to be honest. I remember being at a hospital when I was younger for a bladder infection and being hooked up to an IV. I remember watching the nurse put the IV in with so much interest and thought to myself- I want to be a nurse one day.

In high school I was diagnosed with Endometriosis after throwing up in the bathroom during one of my periods- pretty embarrassing since I was in high school and throwing up isn't really the "cool" thing to do when you are a girl.

I then had knee surgery right out of high school because I was having some knee pain and they went in to do a scope and found a meniscal tear and scraped the plica that was still on my knee cap from when I was younger (it is supposed to slowly go away as you age).

I then went on my mission and went from doctor to doctor and even the ER once while I was out. Diagnosed with Plantar Fascitis and then finally sent home after 6 1/2 months d/t the knee problems getting to be so severe and since they didn't know what it was they sent me home.

I have had a foot surgery where they removed a piece of glass and various other breaks and sprains that don't really count ;) When I worked in the ER at the U of U I was then unofficially diagnosed with "Hereditary Angioedema" which causes me to swell in my face and neck on occasion. Thank goodness it is so minor and something I am used to know. That disease can be very scary and it is something I can pass on but am praying I don't. I have already passed on my allergies to Kaylee- I would hope she doesn't get my bad luck with healthcare.

Finally after being home from my mission, getting married, and having a baby the knee problems started to show up again. I put myself in physical therapy where the physical therapist there FINALLY diagnosed my knee problems and gave it a title "Patellar Tendonitis" We started physical thearpy but as soon as I got pregnant with Connor (which happened while I was still going through PT) my symptoms started to improve. In fact my emotions are better pregnant, my knee's, and my anxiety. Most people complain while pregnant but for me- I like it.

Now- after trying to get pregnant for the last 11 months and having mulitple Cyst with one that burst causing crazy pain- I have made an appointment to see my OBGYN to find out our next step. I think the endometriousis is finally catching up to me but we will see. It wouldn't be so bad but know my knees are back out of control.

Thankgoodness I was blessed with that amazing physical thearpist who diagnosed me and provided me with knee straps that literally provide me a way to walk around the grocery store on my bad days. I can only work once maybe twice a week (if the days are spread out) because my knees get so bad and I get a little rash from the knee straps if used all day long.

It is now to the point where I can't make dinner without having a chair to sit and take breaks with. It is just depressing and today is a hard day. I feel overwhelmingly blessed with my family, my job, the fact that I could even serve part of a LDS mission, and the many doctors I have had in the past several years.....and I would not trade this for anybody else's trials but it is still tough.

I know things always work out for a reason and I know I was blessed with BJ Tenney as my husband who takes such good care of me. I just wish so bad that I could do more for myself and not need so much help all the time. The reason why I chose to be a nurse is because I LOVE taking care of people and when my knees are bad I am the one being taken care of instead of me doing what I love to do.
