Summer Fun

Beej & Chris

 CHERRY HILL
The kids and mom sure enjoyed their Cherry Hill passes this year. They went about once or twice a week. Daddy joined the family in going to cherry hill one evening on a weekday and then for one Saturday at the end of the season.
Daddy took Kaylee on 'Cardiac Canyon' for her first time. Kaylee did awesome!! Her poor arms look like they were hurting from hanging on so tight, but she didn't complain and smiled all along the way.

There are no pictures of the 'Lazy River', 'Pirates Cove' or the 'Dragon Slide' but we all enjoyed all of them as well. Both Kaylee and Connor LOVE LOVE the 'Dragon Slide' and could go on it over and over if we let them. By the end of the season Mom would take Connor on the slide and then the lifeguard would help Kaylee get on her mat and then she would go on the slide by herself with Mom and Connor at the bottom to catch her if she needed (but most of the time she didn't need any help).

 "FOODIE"
This little man loves his food. He doesn't complain on what you give him. If he doesn't like it he wont eat it....and will wait until everyone else is finished eating and sneak back up to the table to eat the leftovers in what he wants to eat. He is a smart little cookie that is for sure.
Good ole' fashion family BBQ. We don't have the best BBQ grill in town- but we sure love grillin' on it when we can, and daddy is a pretty great cook.
One of our favorite summer activities besides swimming is definitely the park. Kaylee was such a good helper and would push Connor on the swing. She is getting to be such a big girl and a great help around the house.

 FARMINGTON DAYS
Farmington days always has a parade and some activities and fireworks at the park the week after the 4th of July. Since BJ had to work, mom took the kids for a fun little adventure. We found a little spot on the grass and shared a chair. It started pouring rain- so we grabbed the diaper changer pad and put it over the top of us. The parade was well worth all the rain. So fun!

This is what happens when you leave your shoes out and you have two young kids that like to color....
 ICE CREAM
One night daddy had a great idea to take us all out for an ice cream cone. We all had fun and it was such a quick, cheap, and fun family activity. Yes the kids did have a hard time going to bed that night...but I still think it was worth it.

Our good friend Gavin came over to play one afternoon. Play dates are always fun!
Another good friend- Sydney. Kaylee, Connor, and Sydney playing at "Umbrella's Park"

 SCRIPTURE READING
We are still working on getting into a habit of having our nightly scripture reading, but when we do the kids really enjoy it. Connor immediately asks for the "TEMPLE" and Kaylee asks to read. Daddy reads the scriptures while Kaylee copies exactly what he says with her scriptures open pretending that she is reading the words herself. Just the other night she said, "Dad I want to read it all by myself". BJ knowing she couldn't quite do that yet decided to whisper the words instead...and luckily that seemed to be what Kaylee wanted. Love that these kids love the scriptures.

Boondocks

Beej & Chris

BJ's annual family work party at Boondocks happened again and the kids had a blast as usual. Each year they enjoy it even more since they continue to grow and understand more. Kaylee kept asking if she was big enough to ride all the "big rides" and was excited to go out and play with Dad on the GoKarts while mom stayed in the kid area with Connor.

It was a pretty rainy day and a few things outside weren't available so Boondocks gave everyone a 'Rain Check' to come back another time.

Here are pictures of a week or so later when we took the kids and went again with our 'Rain Check' tickets. We went to the Layton Boondocks this time and took the kids bowling there.

The kids only lasted through just over half of the game and they both insisted on trying to carry their own bowling balls.

"That was hard work...I think I will just relax my head here"
Kaylee kept asking where her fingers go so she could carry the ball like mom and dad.

Naked Connor, Fun Run, and Movie time with Friend

Beej & Chris

It's official- Connor has gotten to the stage where he knows how to unzip his pajamas.... So, for a few nights that is exactly what he did. We found him naked asleep right next to the bedroom.

CANCER 5 K Walk
I didn't get very many pictures- but at the beginning of July the Parker side of the family participated in a Cancer walk in memory of Grandpa Parker. I couldn't find my knee braces so I borrowed my dad's knee straps. They helped but definitely didn't do what the knee braces I typically use.
My little brother Nate and I ran/walked the 5 k.....and I was definitely regretting it after. My knees hurt sooo much. It is so hard because I love to run, but my knees just don't allow it. I keep thinking maybe they will do okay this time, but every time I am wrong. But either way- it was a fun morning and it was great to remember Grandpa by supporting the 5 k.
A few more pictures of Cherry hill with just Kaylee and Connor. By the end of the season both kids were so brave. Connor was jumping in the pool along with Kaylee. He would go under the water and when he came up he would say "I under the water mom! Under the water mom!"

Since the kids love watching movies, we decided to join the SUMMER MOVIE CLUB making each movie $1. The movies were held at the Farmington movie theater and they were all older movies that were obviously released awhile back. We saw Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs, Horton Hears a Who, The Smurfs, Ice Age, and Dolphin Tale. The kids did pretty good with the movies...especially at first. But when we saw the movie Dolphin Tale was going to be the next movie, I knew Connor wouldn't be able to sit through it but thought Kaylee would do pretty good. So we dropped Connor off to play with Everette and picked up Brinlee.

They were so cute in the car. I just love 3 year old "adult" conversation.
We got popcorn for a snack of course :)
It was pretty fun. I am not sure if we will do it again next summer or not. It was stressful getting all ready and to the movie in time and on occasion chasing Connor around the theater. But next year they will both be older so we shall see...
