Labor day weekend was quite the busy weekend!! It was
soo busy that I didn't take any pictures :(
But here is the quick low down of all that went on...
FridayWe went to
BJ's grandma
Tenney's viewing
SaturdayWe drove to Delta, Utah for Grandma
Tenney's funeral. The funeral ended up being at 1:30 which was right in the middle of the time Kaylee takes her nap. Connor was starting to get fussy and I decided I better take Kaylee out with me as well before she starts screaming. So I stand up and grab Kaylee's hand to go with me. She drops down in the middle of the isle (the funeral is at the church) and starts screaming and crying. I try to stand her up with one hand but she just
layed there screaming.
BJ quickly picks her up and follows me outside. Mind you- this is right as they are reading the eulogy at the FUNERAL! I took her as far back of the church as I could so everyone couldn't hear her crying. Thank goodness the relief society came rushing over (they were getting the food ready for the luncheon) and one of them took Connor while I took Kaylee to the car and grabbed her play pen and headed back to the church. I set up her playpen in the relief society room where she took a good hour or so nap before the relief society ladies went in and accidentally woke her up. But she was doing much better and joined us as we went to the graveside service. The joys of parenthood :)
BJ's sister Elisa took some pictures at the graveside so here they are...
BJ and his brother JC were pallbearers

Being in Delta we had a unique opportunity to actually watch them close the grave.

Here BJ and I are watching them lower the grave and place the seal over the casket

They then attached a hose that added water to some of the dirt to help seal everything. It was really interesting to see. After they let whoever wanted to, to use a shovel and put the dirt over the top of the casket. This is
BJ's brother Spencer in the picture below.

We remembered the camera but the SD card was left into the laptop so it was useless to us. Thank goodness for Elisa and the pictures she got!
After the luncheon we headed out to the Day Family Reunion which is held at Granite Flats in America Fork Canyon. Both Kaylee and Connor crashed and slept for a good hour in the car! It was wonderful! The reunion was fun, but a lot of work with the two kids. We were
soooo grateful for uncle
JC and all the help he gave to us. Kaylee loves her uncle
JC and would follow him around everywhere. She kept saying Jay
Ceeee whenever she would see him. It was really cute. Connor did amazing. I was really really nervous because it was
soo cold up there, but with the warm outfit he had on, plus the brown bear cozy and a few blankets- he was the warmest one there. He ended up sleeping in his
car seat and only woke up twice to eat. I kept waking up making sure he was warm, but he stayed warm the whole night. Kaylee on the other hand was a little more difficult. She has never slept anywhere but her crib or a playpen before. We were too nervous to put her in the playpen to sleep because I knew she would be way too cold. So we connected our sleeping bags together and put her in bed with us. She thought it was play time and just kept bouncing around. We finally got her calm when by letting her watch the Wiggles from a portable
dvd player, where she eventually fell asleep. She woke up a few times in the night kicking me like I was in the way, but would quickly go back to sleep. It was a pretty long night but still a fun adventure :)
We usually stay until after the auction, but we were pretty done by Sunday dinner and ready to head home. I came down with a pretty bad cold the night of Grandma
Tenney's viewing and it was in full force at the reunion. I was miserable but really wanted to be supportive and participate in the Day Family Reunion since we weren't sure how much longer they would be having it. Since it was
BJ's grandma's funeral and his reunion, I wanted to take the kids and do all that I could to relieve
BJ so he didn't have to do very much. Well after the hard night with my cold, Kaylee waking up kicking me all night, and me worrying all night that Connor was cold...I was pretty
onry come Sunday. I broke down and had a great conversation with
BJ. I told him I was sorry for being so
onry and just wanted to do it all. He just looked at me and said, "We are a team. Life is so much easier when we do things together." Such a true statement! Don't I have a wise and patient husband :)
Monday
Kaylee and Connor started getting a runny nose and I was still suffering from my cold so we stayed home and "relaxed" while
BJ went and helped my parents with salsa and chili sauce. I was so
grateful he could go and do that for us. I say "relaxed" because I of course didn't learn my lesson from before when I kept losing everything (see earlier post ' Losing my marbles') and decided I would potty train Kaylee and can the peaches from our peach tree out back. I will do another post on potty training with Kaylee, but as far as the peaches go. I ended up canning 12 quarts and later that night
BJ and I canned another 12 quarts. Got to love canning season :)
