October General Conference 2012

Beej & Chris

 General Conference Oct 2012
BJ went and got all the candy and prizes for the kids and we just reused the pictures from last Conference for our game.
It was a success! Both kids only ended up being awake for one of the two sessions each day due to naps, so we have a few extra prizes for next time.

After Conference I took the kids over to Great Grandma Parker's house while daddy went to Priesthood session with Uncle Nate and Johnathon.
We decorated pumpkins and made homemade pizza

Kaylee was so focused and worked on her pumpkin for a long time- it turned out cute!

Connor decorated a pumpkin too but kept pulling the stickers off after he put it on silly boy

 love this boy!
Afterwards we met the boys at Garcia's for treats since the kids and I already had pizza.
Notice BJ's facial hair...he is growing it out for work.

This is Connor making facial expressions like the girls.

 YUM!
General Conference was as amazing as always. I only bawled once but learned a lot and felt the spirit so strong throughout the conference.

Witches Night 2012

Beej & Chris

Yay for girls night out! We started this tradition 2 years ago with my nursing school friends and have been going every year dressed up as witches since for Gardner Villages witches night. It is so fun. We just walk around and look in the stores and sometimes buy things, but really it is just the atmosphere of music and tons of women dressed up as witches that makes it so fun.

Nina or pretty much invented this tradition lives in Milwaukee now and couldn't make it- and it definitely was not the same without her...but we talked and she is convincing her hubby to come next year right Nina?! :)
They have loud music and lots of place to dance- so that is what we do!

My favorite part was this group of men that dressed and sang like they were from N'Sync and Backstreet Boys- it was hilarious. Oh and when we all sang our hearts out to Spice Girls and reminisced about them and how cool they were... and still are :)
Until next year...

Ahh the many adventures of such cute kids

Beej & Chris

They share suckers and love playing together.

Bath time is sooo much better with a splashing buddy

And if all else fails strip down and sleep naked

(I know some of these are blurry but meh)
Yep being a mom is pretty great!
(p.s. BJ does soo much with the kids when he gets home. He INVENTED the burrito game where he wraps them up and put them in pretend ovens and then pretends to eat/tickle them and the kids LOVE when daddy reads to them. But he usually does this while I am cooking dinner or doing homework so I don't get a lot of pictures of him but I am gonna work at doing better at this cause he is such a cute dad!)

Schedule

Beej & Chris

Okay so occasionally I run out of things to do to entertain my sweet kids. SO....we decided to make a tentative schedule. Obviously it isn't a strict schedule but just a generalized one. Here is a blown up view pictures of the schedule so you can see...

We have been doing this schedule now for about a month and it has helped SO much. I went to JoAnns and filled up on their dollar craft items as well as a few other things like play dough and coloring books etc..
Kaylee's two favorite things to do now each day is exercise and craft time. For exercise we will listen to music and have a dance party or do jumping jacks, sit ups, push ups etc.. She LOVES it. We also sometimes use that time for me to go to Golds Gym. We have a VIP pass so I can drop the kids off for free daycare, and now that they are older I feel better about doing it. I haven't gone as much lately because we have been so busy, but the kids love it there. We call it the "playplace" and I am usually only working out for 30-45 minutes and I can watch them on the TV screen while I use the elliptical if I want so it is nice.

Here is Kaylee's backpack. As Connor get's older we will get him a backpack that has some crafts for him in there as well. But for now, if Connor is awake we just let him share with Kaylee.

Coloring or for Connor....eating crayons if hungry..

Kaylee eating Sour Candy and painting. She said, "I love Sour candy mom!"

So focused. This girl can paint all day long if ya let her. Looks like she might be asking Santa for some more paints :)

Connor is such a stud! Look at that grin.

Making a necklace
Pure joy!

umm...what she we do next mom? To which my reply is "Lunch and then naptime!" ;)
Love these kids!

On the Team

Beej & Chris

I just watched the LDS Press Conference in regards to the new missionary service age requirements (Men 18yrs and Women 19yrs) and was filled with tears as I listened to a comment by Elder Holland:

"Let me also say with love and some emotion, that there are those who's health or limitations or other personal circumstances make it either unwise or impossible for them to have this experience in this rigorous and demanding work. These cases break our hearts, but the Lord and the church honor the intent of the heart and as I recently said in the General Conference; these are also on the team. Even as we honorable excuse these from traditional full time missionary service".

For those of you that don't know I served a mission in Rapid City, South Dakota for a short 6 1/2 months when I was sent home for knee problems that unfortunately even after seeing several doctors were not improved on the mission field. I tried several different treatments including knee braces, steroids, and many different anti-inflammatory medications...but it came to a point that I was feeling like I was dragging my companions down and it was really difficult. I would try to walk and do all that we needed to to the point of tears, so leaving the mission truly felt like a failure despite all that my mission president and family and friends had told me. I then served a service mission for a year to "finish" my mission in hopes of helping me with this void. But for the longest time I have always wished I could have figured things out sooner with my knees and been able to finish that experience to the full extent. Hearing the quote by Elder Holland of "being on the team" was such a good reminder that despite the fact that I didn't get to finish my mission I am still part of the team and am so very grateful for the experience I did have. I know the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only true church and I am so grateful for the many experiences I have felt through the Gift of the Holy Ghost. I am excited for my little brother and the many other teenagers out there getting ready to serve a full-time mission. It is definitely an experience of a lifetime. I know I will always think back and wish I had the opportunity to have the full 18 month experience on my mission, but like I said before I am just so grateful for the experience I did have and know that I did my best and I fulfilled all that the Lord needed me to fulfill, and that is all that matters.

NEW JOB!

Beej & Chris

I got the job! I am really excited for my new job at Pine View Transitional Rehab. When I interviewed with the D.O.N, she was so kind and told me that their goals are to do all they can to have the nurses spend their time with the patients rather than doing paper word, admit/discharges etc.. She also said they believe that the more they do as a company together to help keep everyone happy and enjoying themselves; everyone is happier therefore making their patients happier as well. Hallelujah!!! Places like this still exist? I became a nurse because I love taking care of people. I love helping them when they need help and just talking to them through their emotional problems or concerns. I just love to help and in my previous job I felt like I wasn't doing this and it was hard. I started training at my new job on Saturday and felt like I kept telling the nurse I was with how amazing her place was compared to my last. I couldn't help it- it is totally different. Sure, I know their will be hard days and difficult situations that will come up but I am really excited for this opportunity and just hope it all works out schedule wise. I am PRN and want to do my best to help out the company but be home with my kids...which can be really difficult at times. The shifts are 6-2, 2-6, and 6-10. I have a few people willing to watch Kaylee and Connor during the weekdays from 6-2 and a few options for 2-4 when BJ gets home. Wish me luck! :)

ICE CREAM

Beej & Chris

My neighbor and friend Miranda CAME to our house while my kids were asleep so I could go to a work mtg while her husband was home with her little boy. I was beyond amazing and grateful. So we went to Dairy Queen to get her and her hubby some ice cream and since we were there and Kaylee asked so sweetly "mom did you get me something?" I got the kids mini ice cream cones.

 The loved them!!
