KAYLEE JOY TENNEY

Yesterday was Kaylee's baby blessing. BJ did a great job! The spirit was strong and the blessing was beautiful. Kaylee wore my blessing dress and she looked so tender and sweet in it. After the blessing we had our family over to our house for some food. There was a lot of people, but I think it went pretty good. That was the first time I hosted such a big event at our house; I got asked so many questions "how do you want the chairs?" "do you want me to put the plates on the left or the right" "where do you want the tables". lol I had so much power....too much power. I really didn't care where anything was as long as the food was on the table, it had a spoon in it, and everyone had a place to sit. Saturday BJ and I were cleaning and working outside trying to get everything ready that I didn't get time to set everything up, so it was sooo nice of everyone to help us throw it all together! My mom took a lot of pictures for me. Here are a few from the big event.....

The Scott cousins. I LOVE this picture.

Two month check up

Beej & Chris

TWO MONTH checkup stats:

Height: 22 1/2 inches long (50%)

Weight: 11 lbs 6 ounces (75%)

Head Circumference: 15 1/2 inches (75%)

WOW! Kaylee is growing and growing and growing! I think I figured out why she is in the 75% for her weight. Since Kaylee doesn't take a binky she sucks on her hands a lot making me think she is hungry. When we were at the doctors appointment, she was eating her hands like crazy so I turned to the doctor and said, "Doesn't it look like she is hungry?" He said "yes, but at this age since she doesn't suck on a binky it isn't unusual for her to put her hands in her mouth just because". So, it is sometimes hard to tell when she is just sucking to suck or when she is hungry. But I think BJ and I have got it down for the most part now. So much to learn being a first time parent :-)

The last post I said I was pretty nervous about Kaylee's first shots. Well, I took my friend Rosalee's advice and had BJ buy some infant tylenol drops and gave it to Kaylee right before I left for the appointment. I also asked that two nurses do the shots so it went quicker and they gladly agreed. As soon as the nurses were done with the shots, I quickly grabbed Kaylee up into my arms. The nurses were like, "we need to put a bandaide on it!" lol I let them put the bandaide on while I was holding her. I don't know why this was so hard for me. I mean I am a nurse and I helped hold down kids at primary childrens while they got shots. But this was my daughter and she just got poked three times in the leg! Poor Kaylee SCREAMED and screamed and screamed some more. They left the room and I just cuddled with her for about 10 or so minutes in the room. She would start to calm down and then it was like she remembered why she had been screaming and started screaming some more. It was so sad.

By the time I got back to the car she had calmed down. I buckled her in her carseat and as I was pulling my arm back from strapping her in, Kaylee grabbed my finger and held it soo tight. I let her hold it for a little bit and then I started to pull my finger away and she squeezed it tighter. I mean TIGHT. She has grabbed my finger before but never held it this tight before. awe it was so sweet, it was as if she was saying "Mom. don't leave me, stay here and protect me".

After the drive home from the doctor's appointment I looked back and saw kaylee playing with her toy on her carseat so I took a video.

At six weeks Kaylee was smiling like crazy and started to enjoy the mirror and playing on her play gym. She started cooing and interacting not long after that. She is sleeping for about 5- 6 hours a night and is staying more awake and active during the day now. I love when she tries to talk. She will talk and talk and talk and when you stop paying attention she will scream in a high pitch tone. This was just after 6 weeks old. You can't even see Kaylee in there! She slept in there while I cooked dinner. I will have to take a picture to show you how much she has grown cause you can see her little head poke out now.

So I decided I am just a "wordy" person. This could have been a short post but instead it is so long! I don't know how to make it short. I just write and write and write my "wordy" account of the whole day! Sorry for those who read these posts....if we still have people read these really really long posts!

Fun things

Beej & Chris

I just wanted to quickly post a few things we have done these past few weeks before I forget.

1) BJ invited his dad and brother to help my dad do his annual dutch oven catering job for Farm Bureau. They started cooking at 12pm and I came to help serve with my mom at 7:00pm. My dad loves to cook dutch oven and BJ loves to help. They cooked for 180 people and ended up serving around 160. By the end everyone is totally exhausted, but it ends up being all worth it when we get to get the left overs! :) yummy.

I can't help but smile when I see the picture. Kaylee just spit up all over my mom. Kaylee is so cute even when she is mad.
Look at them hard at work. Cutting potatoes is my least favorite job!
2) Challae; one of my friends from nursing school and I took our sweet babies to show off to our teachers at the DATC. I brought my camera but forgot to pull it out. :( So I will have to steal a picture from Challae's blog to show off her cute baby! Challae and I were due the exact same day, but Challae ended up having her baby 4 days before me. Our little daughters are so different and unique. Challae's baby (Brinlee) is sooo tiny. When she was born she was 5lb 10 ounces and Kaylee was 7lbs 5 ounces. Brinlee loves to cuddle and takes a Binky like a champ. Kaylee loves to kick around and move all over the place and will not take a Binky at all!

Isn't she precious!

After the DATC we met up with another friend from nursing school Julie. Julie was so kind and took us both out to lunch at Pei Wei an Asian diner. It was really good. It was fun to catch up with both Julie and Challae! We definitely need to do it again soon.

3) I went from a relaxing quiet day with a newborn to a crazy fun filled exhausting day with two additional kids. I got to watch my niece (Brooklyn) and nephew (Carson) yesterday from 7:30 am till about 3pm. We watched the movie Cars, went to the park, played the Wii, colored, had lunch, and had an hour of quiet time :-)

I clipped and painted Brooklyn's fingernails. She sat really still for me I was impressed.

This was quiet time. Brooklyn slept for almost two hours!

Can you see Carson in the doorway...he is running away from the camera in his tighty whities. He is potty trained but had a little accident so I had to wash his pants.
While Brooklyn was sleeping I took Carson upstairs with Kaylee and we turned on the Disney channel. It only lasted for about 2o minutes but it was really nice and relaxing.
I had a lot of fun with these cute kids. They are so smart and full of energy. I am super impressed with their parents; my brother and sister-in-law. They both work full time but always take time with their kids to play and teach them new things. Am I ready to have three kids running around? No, not yet. For now sweet little Kaylee is busy enough for me :0)

4) We shampooed the carpet downstairs in preparation for the baby blessing this Sunday.

he he. We are watching dancing with the stars...where you ask?
In the kitchen of course!

We put all our stuff from the front room into the kitchen so we could get a good cleaning in. It was a lot of work but the carpet looks much better! Thanks Kiersten and Johnathon for letting us borrow your carpet cleaner!

Two months and a few days...

Beej & Chris

Kaylee hasn't had her two month check up yet (it is thursday), but she turned two months this last saturday so I thought I would post some pictures to show ya how much she has changed!

This is my sister Angela and my cute niece Brooklyn holding Kaylee. Right after my mom took this picture Brooklyn was kissing Kaylee and then looked at her and licked her face! lol it was so funny.

I love this photo. This is my older brother Johnathon. What a good uncle.

This is me burping Kaylee, doesn't she look so big! Brooklyn has seen me constantly trying to get a burp out of Kaylee by patting her back. Yesterday I saw her carrying around her doll pounding on her back. I later found her dolly in Kaylee's carseat all ready to go. What a cutie.

I am so curious to see how much Kaylee has grown, but nervous for her first shots. Wish us luck!

A little laugh to lighten the mood

Beej & Chris

Last night BJ and I went to the grocery store with Kaylee. She was sound asleep when we left and when we were almost finished she woke up and realized she was hungry and made sure to tell all of the customers at smiths that as well. :)

We were trying to hurry and check out and get home so I could feed her. It was raining outside so I waited for BJ to finish at the checkout so one of us could run get the car. By the time we were leaving I was onry and not having a lot of patience. We got home and I just kept being onry and upset to BJ. BJ patiently waited for me to calm down and realize my stupidity. Before I knew it I totally had forgotten why I was so upset and was laughing. In the middle of our conversation BJ say's "remember at smith's when I started putting things in that lady's cart thinking it was you?" (this really did happen and it was hilarious). BJ knew I was upset and onry but he also knows that if he starts laughing really hard and remind me of something funny then I will forget why I am mad and will laugh with him.

This is one of the many reasons why I married this man! He can make me laugh whenever he wants to, and instead of getting upset with me for being rude...he just lightens the mood by laughing. I always try to fight it at first and say, "stop laughing. I am serious!" but before I know it I am laughing right along side of him. I love my husband. Thanks babe!

Super Mom!

Beej & Chris

Today was an adventure. I had my list of things to do and after Kaylee had a good feeding in her tummy, I started working. I started laundry, straightened up the front room and kitchen, and finished putting together the baby announcements. Kaylee must have had a really good feeding because she was in a deep sleep for a good 3 1/2 hours and wasn't screaming FOOD when she woke up. After I bathed Kaylee, played a little and she melted my heart with her smile; I fed her again and headed off to the post office. By this time it was around 4:30, which is one of the busiest times for the post office. So I get into the long line with Kaylee in her car seat and after moving a few feet, Kaylee wakes up crying. I wasn't way surprised cause she didn't burp very much throughout the day so her tummy was probably hurting. So I pull her out and push the car seat out of the line and hold Kaylee with my left arm around her sore belly with my 35 invitations and diaper bag on my right arm. After waiting in line for a good 10 minutes Kaylee was sound asleep in my left arm. I buy some stamps and the kind lady who sold them to me helped me put them on 15 of the invitations and sent them out to get delivered.

I put Kaylee in the car and she was out like a light. I get home and ask BJ out on a date. Really I came in and said, "I am STARVING. It is almost like I haven't eaten anything today! Kaylee is asleep. Wanna go out to eat?!" (Lol breastfeeding definitely works up an appetite) BJ just smiled and hoped in the car as we headed to Sizzler. We both got the salad bar. YUMMY. Not too long into dinner Kaylee woke up. BJ changed her diaper and as soon as he came back she exploded in her diaper making a mess of her clothes. :-) So I took her and changed her outfit (luckily I had an extra in the diaper bag) and then she started rooting showing to me she was hungry. So I took her into the handicapped bathroom stall and breastfed her standing up. lol I am sure the lady that came in while I was feeding her could hear her sucking in the stall next to me. I wonder what she thought I was doing. lol BJ and I finished our dinner with Kaylee having a clean diaper, a clean outfit, and just smiling away.

Now I know this really isn't that amazing to alot of you super mom's. But this was a huge step for me. Especially from my bad experience a few weeks ago when I took her to Ross by myself and ended up leaving a cart full of clothes in the shoe aisle carrying Kaylee as she screamed the whole way out. If you have a fun mom story or for those that aren't mommies yet, a fun story that made you feel like a super hero....leave a comment, I wanna hear!

* I love you babe,I hope you know!Happy Easter dear princess,I've tried to show! *

Kaylee was super excited about the Toy Story movies that daddy gave her! On each movie is a free coupon to go see Toy Story 3. So fun!

WAY too many treats! Daddy definitely spoiled Kaylee and I this year. :0)
After the hunt, BJ made his amazing pancakes and homemade syrup.

We then headed over to my parents house where my parents put together a easter egg hunt for BJ, my brother nate, and I. It was really fun and not competitive at all :-) I think I even made almost $10.00 from the change in some of the eggs.

who says a newborn can't find easter eggs?!

There were three golden eggs and crazy enough each of us found a golden egg in the hunt.

Kaylee posing for grandma. I love her sooo much. Kaylee is growing up everyday. She smiles soo much and opens her eyes wide. Kaylee turns to you when you call out her name and loves to cuddle. Oh and she has been sleeping AWESOME! The last couple weeks she has been sleeping 41/2- 6 1/2 hours a night! Yeah!

Here is the really yummy dinner my parents prepared. Ham, potatoes, salad, and jello. What else can ya ask for?!

After dinner and conference my parents headed over to my uncles house to work on their taxes. So my brother came over and we dyed easter eggs. So Fun! I am such a kid at heart.

But more importantly, BJ and I really enjoyed watching conference. We both learned a lot and got answers to questions we had both been searching for. I love Easter and all the fun treats and time with family. But even more than that I love why we celebrate Easter. I feel so blessed to be a part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and I know that Jesus Christ died for us and was resurrected. He lived his whole live dedicated to others and suffered more than we can imagine so that we can live again. I am so grateful and hope Kaylee will understand and remember that when she gets older.
