Telling the kids about Disneyland, the drive to California and Beach Day!

Beej & Chris

After experiencing our third miscarriage we decided a trip to Disneyland was again needed. Funny how the last time we went it was following a miscarriage as well. There is just something about Disneyland that makes everything seem less painful. We sent the kids off on a scavenger hunt with Disney clues
It was cute having them read the clues and help each other out

Dad had to help them a little bit here and there

The clues lead them to these new costumes that they got to wear at the Park.
I video recorded their reaction, but it didn't go as planned since BJ is like me and can't be his total self while being recorded so it took away from the magic of it. Needless to say we were both emotional and really excited to tell the kids and of course they were excited as well.

We told them the day before we left! We would have told them the day of but we like to drive in the middle of the night so we figured it would be better the day before. I was wishing I had already packed their bags though, because they were so excited and it was stressful packing everything while trying to settle their excitement down. ha ha
As per tradition we sent BJ to bed at 8 pm and woke up the kids at 1 am to start our driving. This time however we had UNCLE NATE join us!!! We were pretty excited he could come, and he got a steal of a deal. We only made him pay for his disneyland tickets and whatever food he wanted.
Ashlynn struggled a little on the drive. She was exhausted but was having a hard time falling back asleep so we gave her milk which she then threw up everywhere. Luckily we found a gas station that was open on a Sunday at 2 am where we gave her a little bath in the sink and changed her clothes. We ended up just throwing away her clothes. The car smelled like throw up so that was fun ;) but luckily the other kids still slept pretty good despite the interruption.

Connor reading a book at like 3 am. We let him read for a little bit after the gas station but luckily he fell back asleep. While they did good despite Ashlynn throwing up, they didn't do near as good as previous times.
We got to Vegas Sunday morning and stopped at a park to get out and stretch. We also ate our doughnuts we had packed. When we got to the park we looked and looked and looked for Connor's shoes but couldn't find them anywhere. We thought we must have left them at the gas station where we cleaned up Ashlynn so we ended up breaking the sabath to buy Connor some new shoes at the Target in California. We of course found his shoes after we got to our hotel and unpacked. Of course!

Sunday we went to the beach. We found an awesome parking spot that someone had already paid for most of the time so we didn't need to add much. As we were walking to the beach we found BJ's bar. Naturally we had BJ take a picture underneath the sign.
Walking to the beach hand in hand

We loved the beach! It was so relaxing and fun.
Both Nate and I actually took naps on the beach so that was nice ha ha

Ashlynn hung out in the sand for the most part. She was content with the sand and her shovel
BJ taking Connor out on the boogie board

The kids love playing on the boogie board as do mom, dad and Nate. We had some fun catching some big waves.

Ashlynn liked jumping over the small little waves that came to shore

Dad playing with the kids. He is so much fun. The kids love how much he gets down and plays with them. We are sure lucky to have such a great dad.

We had a great time at the beach. We had brought a lot of snacks that we ate while we were there and then we picked up some taco's on our way back to the hotel.
